Otto was absolutely delicious, inventive and memorable.
From New York…
During the last two weeks here, I have tried several new places: Otto was absolutely delicious, inventive and memorable (olive oil, caramel, and pistacchio gelati; 3 small first courses in ramekins were superb — mussels-out of the shells- with mint; crisp raw fennel with bagna cauda; lardo pizza. excellent wine advice and a card from their own Italian wine store) The only problem: noise beyond belief. Do not expect any conversation should you have a companion along.
A tasty light supper at Taste, Eli’s newest restaurant in his grocery at 81st and Third. Check the small plate choices on the wine list: open-faced grilled cheese sandwich with really tasty fresh tomatoes on top; two crispy pieces of fried chicken.
We had a lovely few dishes at “Inoteca (Ludlow and Rivington), and a total feast at Congee Village in the same neighborhood (not on the same night). We had a group supper at the Bread Bar at Tabla!! Totally delicious — especially the eggplant raita!
This weekend a hasty but gorgeous visit to Lake George for a charming wedding. And a wonderful stop at Storm King on a perfect Sunday afternoon to look at great sculpture in a perfect environment.
